COMPETITION RULES 2025

1    Hats to current BSI standard must be worn at all times when mounted.

2    Liability – the organisers or anyone acting on their behalf accept no liability whatsoever for loss, injury or damage to any animal, property, persons or vehicle howsoever caused.  

3    Objections must be handed to the secretary in writing within half an hour of the event, together with a deposit of £20.  The deposit will be forfeited if the show officials decide the objection is not sustained.

4    The management reserve the right to refuse an entry, without giving reason, and to cancel or alter the times of any classes, and also to run any classes in alternative rings.

5    The management reserve the right to limit the entries in any class.

6    Competitors, having entered and then withdrawn from a class are not entitled to a refund unless a Doctor or Vet certificate is produced (50% will then be refunded).
   No refunds will be made if any competitor cancels after the closing date.

7.    The organisers will cancel the event should the weather conditions be unsafe.

8.    All classes run under the guidance of British Dressage. Juniors  in Class 1 (and Class 1Q in Championship) may be led. Any bit and martingales may be worn in these classes only.  Juniors (not seniors) riding in Championship classes ARE PERMITTED TO USE A DRESSAGE WHIP.  

9.    The points awarded towards the “Wendy Clark Development Trophy” is for juniors of 16 years and under, i.e. for those that are 16 yrs & under before the 1st January 2025. Classes for juniors and seniors run in one section but have separate placings and rosettes.

10.    The "Sue Church Trophy" is for all others (i.e. those 17 years and over on the 1st January 2025)  Any competitor winning a trophy is to ensure that the trophy MUST be returned in the condition it was received.  Any damage incurred while in the recipient’s possession must be repaired, or a replacement trophy provided.

The above trophies will be presented at the Championship Show. Points are awarded at May, June, July shows for classes 1-4.  Winners, or a representative, of Championship classes and the Points Trophy must be present for the prize giving on July 31st or will forfeit their trophies and rosettes.
6 points for 1st        5 points for 2nd        4 points for 3rd
3 points for 4th        2 points for 5th        1 point for 6th

11.    To qualify for Championship classes 1Q-3Q on July 31st, rider and horse combination need to be placed 1st to 6th in classes Intro, Prelim or Novice tests at the Thursday evening shows apart from 31st July..  If a combination has already qualified, the qualifying place will pass down to the next horse/rider.
   
12.    A horse/pony may only be ridden once in each class. Riders may enter a maximum of 2 classes on one horse at the evening shows. (A separate section will run so that riders
   who have not qualified may ride in Championship classes, BUT will not qualify for
   trophies. Rosettes will be awarded.)
13.    Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.
14.    No private barbecues or fires to be lit.
15.    The judges and stewards decisions are final.
16.    Horses should not be left unattended.
17.    Children should be kept under close supervision at all times  
18.    By entering you are agreeing to comply with the above rules.
